Take some time on Friday morning and/or afternoon to begin packing away items you don’t need any more. Getting a head start on this will make a huge difference in your stress levels on Sunday.
Starting on Saturday morning, we’ll begin taking down the CockYard, Cock n’Tail Bar, and other major structures in camp. We will aim to get all the main structures broken down. Then we can change, have dinner and head to the Man .
On Sunday morning, we’ll break down shade structures and pack up personal shelters as quickly as possible. Once that is done we’ll pack up the trucks and vehicles. Only when the entire camp site is clear will we begin the MOOP Sweep.
The camp must be completely clear by Sunday at 3 PM at the latest. Then we will all line up for a final MOOP Sweep of the entire camp site.
Once the MOOP Sweep is complete, we’ll have our Closing Circle, and then people have the option to begin returning home, before or after the Temple burn.
You had a great week, you're wiped out, tired, covered in dust, and now you have hours of travel to get home. Here are a few tips to help you on your way out!
Extra food, drink, and other items can be donated to the Burning man cleanup crew on the way out of the gate! Prepare a bag to gift to them.
The line out the gates can be three or more hours. Be patient and be prepared to wait.
Some things to do while you wait:
1. Tune the radio to 94.5 FM, burning man info radio
2. Use a whole container of wet wipes to undust yourself
3. Cover your entire body with several layers of moisturizer
4. Wipe dust off the vehicle interior using a vinegar/ water mix
5. Sleep. A lot.
6. Drink more water.
Over the years we’ve developed a great system for breaking down camp that is faster and more efficient than ever. But it requires everyone’s participation and commitment to work correctly. You don’t want to be the guy packing frantically on Sunday, while the whole camp waits for you to take down your shelter so we can begin the MOOP sweep.
