Camp Build & Takedown

Camp Build and Takedown are meticulously planned and carefully orchestrated. Everyone is assigned to a team, dedicated to building a structure or working on a project. Prepare by knowing ahead of time which teams you are assigned to for camp build and takedown.

Camp Build & Teardown Tips

Don’t burn yourself out before the burn even begins! If you forget to take care of yourself during camp build, you can easily end up sunburnt, irritable, and exhausted. We’d much rather have everyone upbeat and enjoying the build than tired and angry. Make taking care of yourself and others a priority!

  • Communicate! If you need to take a break for any reason, always let your team lead know where you’re going and for how long.
  • Take breaks as needed, but stay close to camp.
  • Apply and reapply sunscreen. Keep an eye out for other GlamCocks who may need more.
  • Stay hydrated and drink lots of water. More than you think you need.
  • Eat snacks as you build. Share snacks with others.
  • Some parts of the build require everyone to help out. Be ready to drop what you’re doing when asked.
  • If you feel a situation is not safe and someone is likely to get injured, stop the process and speak up!
  • Have fun! This is a great time to meet people you don’t know and make new friends.

Camp Layout

Our Foreman Rui (aka Tarz) puts an incredible amount of work into designing the camp layout: initially for our theme camp application, then adjusting it as more information is finalized about each GlamCock’s transportation and shelter plans, and then modified again once we receive details about placement.
