GlamCocks have always been a close-knit group, which has grown naturally through wanting to share Burning Man with close friends. One of our core beliefs is that our bonds are built and strengthened through collective creative work and active participation.
Because of limited camp space, we want to ensure that all campmates are committed to the work and high degree of participation that our camp requires. Specifically, we have the following expectations of all veterans and virgins:
GlamCocks is not a spectator camp. It is not enough to just show up. To pull this off, each year requires a high degree of participation in regional planning, fundraising, and activities by all members.
Every GlamCock member is required to participate in planning, building, running, taking down, and de-MOOPing camp. Specifically:
We are a NO SPARKLE PONY camp.
GlamCocks are a queer camp, but we do not discriminate based on age, race, physical appearance, gender or gender identity, or any other factors. New member requests are reviewed by all leads, and must be unanimously approved by the peers in their region. New GlamCocks are expected to participate fully, and to respect our values, ethics, and each other.
It is very important that guests to our camp always feel welcome. Discrimination of any kind will never be tolerated.
We value open, direct communication. Destructive criticism, gossip, and passive aggression severely detract from our family spirit. If you have an idea, question, or problem, communicate directly and constructively.
